Are You Ready For the “Gift” of Christ’s Love?

Dear Saint Pius X Parish Family,

One of the hallmarks of the Advent/Christmas Season is planning, preparing, wrapping and exchanging gifts. We as Christians know the reason for the Gift God gave to us: Jesus Christ made flesh to dwell among us. The Advent Season is a perfect time for us to reflect on all the gifts and blessings that God bestows on us in Christ. Our God is a God of abundance, generous in loving us with an absolute love and blessing in every way.

In just a few short weeks, we will gather as a parish family to celebrate the Christ Child’s Birthday. Christmas is a time when we celebrate the “Gift” that God gave to us all, Jesus, the Light of our World.

Are our hearts ready and open for His “Gift” of love, peace and joy? Is there a dwelling place in our heart where Jesus the Christ Child can dwell and motivate us to be a “Christ” for one another? Do we have room in our hearts for the Christ Child to empower us to be holy people of faith? In the next few weeks let’s ponder this “Gift” and ready ourselves for the Christ Child’s love.

God sent His Son into this world to dwell among us and to help us come to know, love and serve the Lord. Jesus came as the ‘Light” for all the world and He let His light shine to scatter the darkness of sin that was taking over the world. His message of love radiated through His ministry and His preaching. He touched all in so many ways that they were able to recognize their need for conversion and desired to walk in the ways of the Lord.

As we gather around the Altar as the Body of Christ, may this celebration of our love for the Lord, be a time for each of us to experience a deeper conversion of faith in Jesus. May this Christmas be for us an “experience” that pulls us closer to the Lord as we acknowledge His presence and power in our lives.
Through our life experiences we then as Christians see our own need for individual spiritual growth and furthering our relationship with Jesus. Jesus is always with us; He never abandons us. There are times when we abandon Him, but he never abandons us.

Let us make room for the Christ Child’s love this Christmas and let us be open to experiencing His presence and power. This is God’s Christmas “Gift” to us, His only begotten Son, Jesus the Savior of the world. May His light shine in and through us as He makes His dwelling place in our heart!

Merry Christmas!
